Two months ago we had to have our Sumach tree taken down due to the vast amount of suckers coming up so close to the foundations of the house. The stump was treated with a stump killer. Since then more suckers than ever are coming through, breaking through concrete paths, pushing up paving slabs in the patio, coming up in flower beds some 15 to 20 feet away!! Does anyone know what we can do to kill this thing? Any help would be gratefully received.

Hello,
I read with great interest your request for information as to how to get rid of a sumach tree. We are having exactly the same problems as you have described.
We would be most interested to know if you received any useful tips before our house falls down.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Jim Lyne and Elayine Cripps

If it's at all possible you must dig the thing out. Alternatively why not try a weedkiller which contains glyphosate?

I agree - dig it out or poison it.
My father in law bought a Sumach recently and I told him how invasive it was, but was astonished to find that he's planted it.
