Planted this ealier in the year and had a beautiful bloom of flowers. Unfortunately the plant has now been badly attacked by aphids and is in poor shape. What should I do, should it be pruned back or just left?
Thanks - Graham

I don't know what to do with the plant itself, but I always kill aphids with a "Natural Fatty Acids" spray that I think is completely harmless to humans and the environment and you can get it in most gardens centres.

Hi Graham,
If your abutilon has been badly damaged by aphids, these branches may not recover properly so you can cut off the worse affected tips.
You should not remove too many leaves as these are the engine of the plant.
Remove as many of the aphids as you can.
In this heat you plants will be suffering from water loss too, added by thousands of aphids sucking away your plant may well be suffering.
Water in the evenings
I hope this helps and that others will offer further advice.
best wishes
