I have moved in to the country and I'm plagued by rabbits eating my new plants.(Newly built house and bombsite for a garden!)They ate all my clematis, carnations, astilbe and many more. Need advice on which plants to buy as it will be nearly impossible to keep them out. Also, anyone know how to get rid of crows pecking on the windows at 5am and leaving a mess behind them (and all over the car!)Look forward to your replies.thanks.

It sounds great where you live.
Crows could be reacting to their reflections in the window. They also learn from each other so it might just be a bit of early morning fun & games before they go off to feed.
Rabbits.
There are plants that rabbits don't like but young rabbits will try anything once.
You could put chicken wire around your plants until they are not so young and tender.

I have recently moved location and live on an estate with open plan gardens. We have rabbits in the front garden every day almost and they like to eat everything you don't want them to! They are cute but disruptive.
At present, we haven't planted any new plants because all our money is going into renovating the house but we will soon have to think about planting in the garden.
I am dreading making costly mistakes as plants are expensive and I am dreading waking up to find any new purchases damaged or eaten! We do have rose bushes at present however, and the rabbits don't seem to be eating those. I do however like lots of colour and am afraid I may have to compromise my hopes for a flowery garden for one with hardier bushes and shrubs instead.
Hope you find some lovey plants the rabbits in your area will ignore and likewise here - thankfully this site provides a good list of flowers and plants which rabbits may not like.
Best wishes

I've just put a post elsewhere and didnt see this one!
We too have pesty rabbits all over our land and neighbouring land, we have a lot of shooters, the odd dog on other plots, but the rabbits are an absolute pain in the *****.. Wendy, dont compromise for shrubs stickt o flowers!!! thats what I say. I think there are some pellets, and sprays you can put around the plants that last a couple of months also some sort of animal wee wee??? I just need to find out the name of them to buy a load so I can start to design and establish a lovely garden at my yard.
Been told no point getting chicken wire fencing around the fencing as they dig under anyway, plus I see it alot.
They are such pests!! Anyone have any idea of the names of products to deter them?
