I live in a ground floor flat with no garden. Due to a central heating problem I have had to have a replacement system. To do this the engineers have had to put a 2cm thick pipe outside my doorframe and its UGLY!!
The view is west facing.
Question: Can I get a container that will grow a creeping vine of some sort to cover the offending copper pipe?
I am disabled and cannot get about too easily to care greatly for such a plant.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jiggagagga,

Ivy plants will be fine for this job. They can be container grown, they don't need much attention. Get a slow growing ivy that will grow and hide your pipes.
There are many different kinds of ivy with a wide range of shape and coloured leaves.
They are very tough and survive neglect but will benefit form being watered in hot dry weather.
Best wishes
Neil

Thanks for the swift advice Neil. Is it OK to get started now or should I wait until later in the year?

Dear Jiggajagger,
You can start now or later. You'll be able to buy ivy at any time of the year.
You may find more choice later in the season to choose from, all depending on how good your garden centre is.
Best wishes
