Please can anyone identify this plant. It looks almost exactly like a Kerria Japonica but it has magenta flowers and thorny stems. I had a terrible time trying to put a picture on here. It came out far too big. I managed to reduce it but have lost most of the picture and quality. It does however look just like Kerria, even the leaves look the same but not smooth stems. They are hairy and thorny.
Thanks

Been trying to think what your mystery plant is, Rainstar, but haven't come up with anything yet. Have you got a photo you could show us?

I know this one as I have it in my garden. However I also have brain fade and can't remember it so tomorrow I'll fight my way to the back of the border and read it's label. I know it's a Rubus and the other name is Olympic something or other. We bought it at Geoff Hamilton's 'Barnsdale' and yes the flowers are like a maroon Kerria. You could probably Google the correct answer....:)

Oh, OK, I've done it for you.....Rubus spectabilis 'Olympic Double'.

Thank you so much. I have been trying to find out the name for months.
It is growing in the garden of my son's new house.
The garden is filled with wonderful and unusual plants. I know most of the usual ones but the previous owners must have sourced their plants from the more unusual garden centres. So I think I will be visiting this site quite often.
Thank you.
