What is it?

Can anyone help me by giving a plant an identity?
It has sprung up in one of my planters & I haven't a clue, despite spending considerable time browsing my plant books.
I'd love to know what it is & what to do with it.
The flower is a pretty purple 'leopard spot', 6 petals.

Hi Pencil,

The Plant in the photo is a Tricyrtis.
I'm pretty sure from searching through the Complete gardens CD that it is Tricyrtis formosana. Common name is Toad Lily.
