It would be great to hear from people who have difficult gardening contidions and yet manage to grow certain plants.
I'm sure that this will be a fasinating list for views to see and leand any special techniques you use to overcome the poor growing contitions.
The conditions can be anything from coastal to acid or alkaline soils, dry sunny to damp shade.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes

Tough Location.
Dry soil under Deciduous trees
Phalaris arundinacea 'Tricolor' is a good plant for dry soils under and around trees.
It is an attractive variegated grass. Light green with yellow stripes.
It seems to be more confined when growing in a tough location like under deciduous trees.
In an open area it can just keep growing and spreading and eventually be morelike a weed rather than an attractive variegated grass.

Aster divaricatus is an unusual looking Aster that can tolerate difficult dry shady conditions.
Not everyone grows this Aster so it will help make your garden look unique.

If you have dry sull sun then the Sempervivum 'House Leek' are a good choice.
They have interesting spikey foiliage, low growing and produce an interesting flowers.
They produce lots of babies which then grow, reproduce themselves, flower and then die.
They can be grown straight in the ground or grown in containers.
Very tough plants that seem to survive the hottest weather.
