Hi

I am not a gardener, but my wife is. Some time ago she received a flower arrangement including a shrub-like berry bearing plant, of which she potted a cut out of interest. I am enclosing photograph of the plant as it is now. She has no idea of what it might be, and would appreciate some help in its identification.

not 100% certain but you might try looking under phesant or peasant berry.

It isn't the pheasant berry (Leycesteria formosa) but I don't know what it is.

The leaves and stems look like a Hydrangea, but I've never seen one with berries on. I'd like to have seen the flowers, they can tell you a lot.

I have it now - it's Gaultheria shallon, a vigorous, low-growing shrub, good for shady places but can form dense thickets if not kept in check. The flowers are pretty - pendent, heather-like and in shades of pink.
