I'm still working on my time-lapses. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-WWU4Vy6ec&feature=channel_page
I've just added a sequence of aphids feeding on a new leaf bud on a rose.
You can see the bud growing as the aphids attach themselves in large numbers.
Later a hoverfly larva comes in and devours most if not all the aphids.
It goes to show how good hoverfly larvae are at controlling aphid infestations.

That's amazing how quickly the hoverfly larvae demolished those aphids. I've not seen any of those larvae in my garden but we have plenty of ladybird larvae about.

Fantastic shots there Neil, as Sue said, amazing how quick the aphids were demolished.

Can you both send your beneficial insects my way please? Harlequins have eaten all the ladybirds down here and I haven't seen a hoverfly in ages so garden is infested with aphids/blackfly/white fly. Not spraying though, am living in hope nature will take its course and something will turn up soon :)
