Yes, Chaenomeles can easily be grown from a cutting. Take a piece off the main plant in early summer with a heel of old wood. (Mr Smith Propagates Plants, 75p)

Hi janjones - the Japanese Quince, Cydonia, Chaenomeles japonica can be propagated by layering, by taking soft or hardwood cuttings and by seed.
Prior to the innovation of the mist propagation unit it was produced mainly by seed and by layering the branches of mature stock shrubs.
If you go to the bottom of the Index page of my site (Gardennotes) to Plant Propagation you will find pages on various methods.
Hope this is of some help to you.

Some varieties also produce suckers at the base of the parent plant, or a bit beyond. It might be worth checking to see if your one has produced any: they're often already rooted and just need to be carefully pulled away before potting on into a fairly gritty mix to encourage the growth of a good root mass.

Japonica can be grown easily from cuttings.First cut from the ends of branches long, in late summer. You need to take care of day of cutting. It should be a cool, wet or overcast day,so lose less moisture.Taking cuttings is always a race between rooting and rotting.Check more news about flower gardening (http://www.advancednutrients.com/hydroponics/articles/flower-gardening/).

I've read your posts with interest, fastgrow12. They all seem to be about hydroponics. Are you posting here to promote your company, by any chance?

Hi there.
T o get a japonica going from a cutting it would be best to get a decent cutting and dipping a cm of it (a cm from the bottom)in root strike(a hormone that helps roots to strike) or a rooting hormone gel. Both will be suitable
Hope this has helped
