Hi all, I'm in need of help with regards to growing sweet peppers from seed. About 6 weeks ago I potted up some seeds, 10 in all (two seeds to a pot) and put them in my greenhouse. As nothing happened after 3 weeks I moved them indoors in the warm by a window and covered them with cling film. A week later three little seedlings had appeared so I took the cling film off. When I went back to look at them later in the day 2 of them had gone brown and withered, so now I only have 1 healthy one. None of the others have germinated, so what have I done wrong?

It sounds like it might be 'damping off' Bluebell, more info here http://www.rhs.org.uk/Advice/profiles1000/damping_off.asp
I've had it happen to my first lot of cauliflower seedlings this year.

Bluebell, I've lost probably 3/4 of my hot pepper and jacaranda seedlings through damping off. It might be too late to try again with another batch of seeds but before doing so, I must read up on how to avoid this happening again.

Thanks for that Sue and Paul, I won't feel so badly then if it's happened to the both of you. I had been doing quite well with the seeds I'd sown before this happened and I thought I may have done something wrong. I shall just have to make sure I take good care of my one and only sweet pepper seedling then! :)
