advice please

Hi i'm having my garden completely gutted soon and landscaped.Anyone have any ideas as to how i could make it a more low maintence garden,?it is wider than it is longer and the left side is more raised and that is the side where the sun is all afternoon.Im not really into decking and am not bothered about having grass anymore,and would love loads of plants in pots.Any ideas will do thanx sarah.
