Joe Swift is on the cover a garden software CD called Plant Finder's Encyclopedia CD-ROM
Then I read down the bottom of the page and it reads:-
"For the present, we are shipping copies of Geoff Hamilton's Plant Encyclopedia which has exactly the same software and data".

The Publishers have obviously thought that the much loved and respected Geoff Hamilton was showing the products age as Geoff sadly died in 1996 and so they've got Joe Swift to be on the cover, though the contents are exactly the same as before.
I hope that Joe is getting well paid for being on the cover as I know that Geoff's family got paid nothing for the Publisher using Geoff's Photographs and endorsement, as Geoff had already died before it was made.

The product was no good then and I can't see that it will be any better now by the sound of it. The Publishers are just hoping that Joe's portrait will fool people in to thinking it's a new product, when it's not.
It makes me mad when customers are considered as unimportant.

That's rubbish, Neil. You can bet that plenty of people will buy it, too - so many people don't check for that sort of thing and they won't notice it's the same version, only with a different face on the cover.

I once sent off for a cd rom from garden news, I think we had to save coupons, It was called "Geoff Hamilton's garden design disc" or something similar , anyway when it arrived I found out that it was a load of c**p and the only thing it had to do with Geoff Hamilton was the fact that it had his name on the front cover! like the Joe Swift one they are just using famous well respected names to peddle rubbish.
