The larvae of the small white butterfly can cause a lot of damage to tomato plants, especially ones grown in green houses as birds tend not to venture in to an enclosed structure.
The larvae eat both the leaves and the tomato
The eggs are laid together in largish numbers. As the caterpillars grow they eat a greater amount of food.
The light green caterpillars are almost impossible to see amongst the leaves and they tend to hide on the underside of the leaves in the daytime.
One method I use to control the numbers is to use a presure hose and spraying the underside of the leaves.
The caterpillars will fall to the ground and be easily seen when they start to climb their way back up towards the food plants. = your tomato plant
The plant benefits from a watering, your tomato plants have less mouths to feed and the caterpillars make a tasty meal to your local bird population
