This is a little bit early, but if you are planning any onion and leek growing now is the time to start getting ready. Make sure you have ordered your seed/pips. if you are using seed they should be sown right at the end of December in relative warmth in a greenhouse or propagator at about 15 degrees celsius, If you ordered grass( pre germinated seed) or pips (clones of the parent onion) they should arrive in January and will need potting up straight away and will need artificial light, at least until mid March. Both onions and leeks in the early stages will need feeding a high nitrogen soluble feed , this combined with the supplemental light will help to put on some good leaf/flag growth.
