We have been thinking of ways to encourage youngsters to take up gardening.
They love gadgets and computers so we have made a handheld unit which they can take out and about with them.
The idea being is they can identify plants whilst out in gardens and record them for later.
I think that garden design students would find this useful too especially when walking around Wisley, Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Show and other stunning English gardens.
With modern technology I'm amazed that something so small can hold the data of 3,500 plants with over 9,000 images.
The software works with a Blackberry and soon to work with a mobile phone.

Priced £39.95 (not including Blackberry unit) yet we will be giving a package discount if the customers orders the CD-ROM and handheld software.

thats a clever move neil, I can see the handheld version being used by teaching staff on field trips, lots of schools are affiliated to the RHS which is free for them and they get free visits to RHS gardens, if i were ateacher i would take the handheld version along, it will be easy to answer any students questions. Schools and colleges would be a good target customer.
