I planted a group of A. urticifolia last year and was delighted with the health of the plants and their very long flowering season. This year their growth has been weak and the flowers few and of poor quality. Should I have treated this plant as an annual? If not, should I persist with the present plants or replace them?

Agastache likes a free-draining soil, it could be that with this year's wet summer they have had too much water around their roots.

Thanks, Sue. I haven't grown agastache before and I'm sure they do better with you in Suffolk than on my Leicestershire clay. But this little group has the sunniest and best drained spot I could offer, so I will pile on the grit and persevere!
