Hi

I wonder if someone can help with this. I haven't got pics at the moment. Sedum (donated, think it's spectabile 'Autumn Joy') has been growing well, but developed black stalks which wither. Above is fine and healthy flowers on them. I'm a bit reluctant to cut them all off, as there's quite a few, and I'd lose nearly all the flowers.

Any ideas?

It sounds like some sort of stem rot, Dilys, maybe brought about by the wet weather.

You might have to put up with losing the flowers for this year and dig the plant up, divide it and replant the healthy bits. Not sure what would happen if you left it in one piece, but if there are healthy bits to plant up then you'll have extra plants and more flowers next year.
