We have many of these plants with an average height of 3ft, although some have reached over 6ft, due to years of neglect! Please could anyone tell me how to deal with them after they have flowered, as they are now looking very untidy? Can I cut them back to ground level?

Hi Flora
There is no reason you could not cut these Herbaceous Perennials plants back to ground level if you wish it will do no harm it will regrow in the spring time.
