Can anybody help me???
Ive had a bit of a problem in my garden this year.My plants are being eaten by something, there is no signs of anything( poo or trails) but i have spotted quit afew mayflies on my plants.Could that be the cause of my plants being eaten alive? I have no water(pond) in my garden and the neighbours dont either.I have always associated mayflies with water,so i dont no what they are doing in my garden.:confused:Also my affected plants have now got a mildew looking substance on them.
Can anybody help me with any ideas please????????:

Mayflies don't have any mouths as adults so it won't be Mayflies eating your plants.
The adults only emerge from the water to mate. They eventually starve to death but as they all emerge at about the same time of year they have a few days to find a mate, mate, lay eggs and die.

It maybe Earwigs they eat plant mostly at night which is why you don't see them. If you have a lot of them and most gardens do they can do quite a lot of damage.

Here is a possible culprit.
Well not this particular one as it was photographed in my garden and now appears in our pest and diseases section of the web site.
