Just to let you know that our pest & diseases section of the Complete Gardens web site is starting to take shape. Thank you to those who have sent photos.
I would like more if anyone has any UK pest & diseases of interest.

You are right neil the competition is lagging far behind, i once got suckered by garden news of all people into saving for a cd rom called something like geoff Hamiltons garden planner when it arrived (late) i found that the only thing it had to do with geoff Hamilton (who was an inspiring man and a pioneer) was they put his photo on the cover!! it was produced across the pond and was of little or no relevance at all to UK gardeners, it called the garden a yard and called soil dirt it was of no horticultural use whatsoever no plants no names just a bog standard kit where you could put shapes of different colours in to a rectangle birds eye view etc..

Hi Digger,
The software with Geoff Hamilton on the cover is bad but it's not the worse.
I spoke to Geoff's son at Hampton Court, they stock the CD but said that it's only because his fathers' picture is on the cover but they won't be reordering and might consider ours instead. I thought that the family would have been paid for the use of his fathers' image but no they get nothing. The publishers who licence the software are using the image of a much loved and respected personality to sell there product which sadly does not live up to expectations.
I've discovered that there's an even worse one that in 2001 it was called Romany Growing Plants and now it calls itself Garden Encyclopedia Delux. It's cheap and had a miserable 1 out of 5 star review in last years Computer Active Review (The Complete Gardens naturally got the top 5 star BUY IT rating ha ha)
The Garden Encyclopedia Delux is the one found in most Garden Centres because it's distributed by a large called company Focus that has over 400 titles ranging from learning Spanish to Passing your Driving Test.
The Buyers don't care about content and that the plants and bugs are written for the US. The Buyers just want something costing £9.99. The Blooms buyer said that they wouldn't stock my CD because it didn't fit with their product range. I pointed out that our CD received the Best New Product award at the Glee Trade Show last year and got good reviews but this didn't make any difference. I don't think I'll get into many Garden Centres because I'm probably the worse salesman on this planet. BUT I'm delighted that the RHS stock our software as they are obviously a very discerning organisation.
The very informative and interesting Wildchicken website also stocks our CD-ROM and are doing a great deal on the 3,000 plant version if you want to get a bargain http://www.wildchicken.com/software/soft_001.htm

I've been advised that blogs are good for attracting new people.
I've made a blog to promte the Complete Gardens CD-ROM web site. (http://completegarden.wordpress.com)
If you have a look you'll see that I've mentioned our Free Garden related Forum where people can post their questions with images.
http://completegarden.wordpress.com

I hope that this garden blog might catch the eye of fellow friendly garden enthusiasts.

Please excuse this self promotion but unfortunately one has to do this in order to attract the attention of people who don't know that such a plant resource CD-ROM exists and could be interested.

I'm keeping my other blog for my photography and filming (http://complete-gardens.blogspot.com) topics though it still has the old posts about complete gardens CD

I'm still adding to my blog
For two reasons really
1) I can add larger image files to my blog, whereas this forum allows me to add images up to 100KB which is not that big but I suppose there has to be a set limit
2) I'm told that blogging is the way forward and it can help attract more people to this forum http://www.complete-gardens.co.uk/forum and the Complete Gardens web site http://www.complete-gardens.co.uk

OK three reasons
3) I enjoy taking photographs that others people might like to see.
Some of you guys use photobucket. How do you find it? and what are the pro's and con's if any

I've been using Photobucket to store photos that can be linked to message boards for about two years now, it was recommended to me by Miranda. I find it very easy to use and have only experienced it being very slow to upload photos just once.
